Trousseau's sign of latent tetany ◼️This is a sign of latent tetany and generally believed to be more sensitive than Chvostek sign (tapping the facial nerve infront of the ear produce hemifacial spasm). ◼️To elicit the sign the blood pressure cuff should be inflated 15 mmHg above the systolic blood pressure to occlude blood flow to distal tissues which will exacerbate the state of hypocalcemia, this should be maintained for up to 5 minutes before concluding that the sign is negative. ◼️The above
