There is more than meets the eye on the Sun. 👀 In visible light (left), which the human eye can see, the Sun’s surface is freckled with dark splotches known as sunspots. Ultraviolet light (right) is invisible to the human eye but shows sunspots surrounded by bright regions named faculae. As the Sun’s activity ramps up with more eruptions, more sunspots and faculae will appear on the surface. While sunspots are dark, the bright faculae make the solar surface around 0.1% brighter at the Sun’s pea
