I'm always looking out for logs hanging off this train as it passes north, at times the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad has pulpwood not fully secured that can fall off if it moves just right. We spent a little time with Jason Julian in the woods where he is getting ready to start an Ash extraction job. He wanted to give a couple of his young American Brabant draft horses some experience skidding logs. The bay horse, Asterix, is a three-year-old stallion imported from Germany and the blue roan horse, Kitty, is a four-year-old daughter of one of Jason's mares, Eve, and his highly successful stallion, Conan.
