The amusement park Jazzland opened in May 2000 in New Orleans East. In 2003 it was taken over by Six Flags and renamed Six Flags New Orleans. On August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina hit. The park was flooded with up to seven feet of water. It never reopened. Today the park remains closed and abandoned. Demolition has started.
