Third graders brought Vincent van Gogh’s sunflowers to life in every medium imaginable. We started with Camille and the Sunflowers, sketching together while observing both van Gogh’s work and a real bouquet in the classroom. Students then chose their own material—oil pastels, tempera, watercolor, Kwik Stix, or markers—and explored how color, texture, and line can bring energy to a simple still life.
