Taking a recreational avalanche course is not good enough. They can't prepare you for the emotional consequences of being directly involved in a serious avalanche incident. Before she was caught in this avalanche she was most likely having the time of her life. Her group could have been experienced and might have taken an AST2 and were "good to go". Maybe they were guided... maybe they weren't. They may have identified the avalanche terrain and deemed it "safe" to ski, or maybe they had no idea
