The Dallas Mavericks may be without multiple key players in Sunday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg admits the point guard load was too much as Dallas searches for better backcourt balance.

DALLAS — P.J. Washington Jr. and Cooper Flagg scored 21 points apiece and teamed up on a crucial basket late in overtime to help the Dallas Mavericks to a 138-133 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night.

Over the last three games with Russell in the starting lineup alongside Flagg, PJ Washington, Max Christie and Daniel Gafford, the Mavericks' offensive rating is 78.4. For comparison, the 2002-03 Nuggets hold the record for the lowest offensive rating in NBA history at 92.2.

The Dallas Mavericks may already have a point guard of the future on the roster who can play alongside Cooper Flagg for years to come.

To add to the woes, No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg is fighting through a pair of injuries. Flagg sprained his right thumb on Monday night and is still dealing with left shoulder pain from an ailment that originally occurred against Oklahoma City on October 27.

Flagg spoke to reporters after the game, and the 6-foot-9 forward-guard shared some concerning news. Flagg revealed that he played through a thumb injury in his shooting hand on Monday against Milwaukee.
