A push by the Trump administration to end Russia's war on Ukraine appears to make headway, with Kyiv saying Zelenskyy could visit D.C. within days to finalize a deal.

The Geneva plan would freeze Russian control of captured Ukrainian territory along the current front lines, restricts Ukraine’s peacetime forces to 800,000, forbids Nato troops from being stationed there in peacetime and demands both sides sign a non-aggression pact.

Ukraine, US and European officials met in Geneva to discuss the draft plan presented by Washington to end the nearly 4-year old conflict.

“The Ukrainians have agreed to the peace deal. There are some minor details to be sorted out but they have agreed to a peace deal," a U.S. Army secretary in Abu Dhabi, where meetings between the U.S. and Russian officials were taking place this week, in a statement obtained by CNN.

Donald Trump has said a proposal to end Russia's war in Ukraine has been "fine-tuned" and announced he's sending his special envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with Vladimir Putin.

The meeting last week was just the latest example of a long-running rift inside the Trump administration over how to end the war in Ukraine.

The attacks hit several residential buildings in Kyiv and killed two people, while Russia's Rostov region reported three deaths.

There were secret talks between the U.S. and Russia in Abu Dhabi on Monday, the existence of which emerged in reports by Reuters and the Financial Times, as the Trump administration tries to maintain the momentum of progress with its evolving peace plan to end the war in Ukraine,
