Americans can now purchase the starter dose of blockbuster weight-loss drug Wegovy as a pill, drug maker Novo Nordisk announced Monday. Other strengths will be available as pills by the end of the week.

Changes are coming in 2026 for GLP-1 drugs. Long defined by high prices, shortages and weekly injections, drugs including Wegovy and Zepbound are expected to be easier to access and afford. And new options for people averse to needles are coming.

The Wegovy pill is only available in the U.S. with a doctor’s prescription. Patients can pick it up at pharmacies nationwide, such as CVS and Costco, or consumers can have it delivered through select telehealth companies like Ro, LifeMD and Weight Watchers, NovoCare Pharmacy, GoodRx and others, according to the drugmaker.

The weight loss drug Wegovy is now available as a tablet in more than 70,000 U.S. pharmacies as well as select telehealth providers. The Food and Drug Administration recently approved an oral GLP-1 medication for the treatment of obesity and weight management.
