Northern Lights may be visible over Wisconsin Thursday night into Friday early morning, as a strong Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) strikes Earth.
We explained this in a previous Ask the Meteorologist. Ironically enough, that storm happened in Johnston County too. Downbursts/microbursts can be just as (if not more) damaging as a tornado, so that’s not downplaying the severity of the storm that blew through Saturday night.
We are still watching a few showers and storms this evening, but anything of concern will stay east of the Tennessee River this evening. There still could be a couple lingering showers east of Jackson the next couple of hours but the rain should be wrapping up in time for the football games in our
