The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed in downtown St. Louis due to a crash Tuesday morning. In a social media post, St. Louis police urged drivers to avoid the area of I-70 near Memorial Drive. The department said a crash in the area closed all eastbound lanes of the highway at around 8:45.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened on eastbound I-44, past I-64, near Memorial. The crash involved an overturned tractor trailer, which spilled dirt and mud throughout the roadway. The intersection is expected to be closed for an extended period of time as crews work to clear the scene.
