Rocket Lab deploys Japanese radar satellite to advance urban planning and disaster response
Rocket Lab successfully launched a Japanese Earth-observing satellite into orbit early Friday, marking a significant step in expanding Japan’s ability to monitor its environment and infrastructure. The mission,
Rocket Lab said May 21 it won a $90 million contract from the U.S. Space Force to design, manufacture and operate two geostationary satellites the military will use to monitor and track objects in orbit.
Rocket Lab will launch an Earth-observing radar satellite for the Japanese company Synspective early Friday morning (May 22), and you can watch the action live.
