STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A small burst of winter weather is on its way for Staten Island next week — but you won’t need to get your shovels out just yet, according to forecasters.

According to FOX 5 NY's Mike Woods, showers will intensify into the evening commute, especially across New York City and areas north and west, before tapering overnight.
The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies and possible showers for New York City, with breezy conditions and a Gale Warning for surrounding waters.
A foot or more of snow could fall Thursday and Friday near the eastern shores of Lake Erie, mostly southwest of Buffalo, and on the Tug Hill Plateau. Central New York and the Southern Tier are expected to get less snow, with most of it falling on Friday.
There will be a quiet start to the week, but wintry weather is set to return to Western New York just in time for Thanksgiving.
It’ll be a late one under the lights at Gillette Stadium, with kickoff set for 8:15 p.m., and the weather is looking mighty cold. Game-time temperatures will likely range between 28 and 33 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. There will be a slight breeze, but it shouldn’t be strong enough to impact the kicking or passing game.
Syracuse, N.Y. -- As much as 8 inches of fresh snow could fall between 5 p.m. and midnight today in Syracuse and parts of Central New York, according to an afternoon update from the National Weather Service. A lake effect snow warning remains in effect for Madison, Onondaga and Oneida counties until 7 a.m. Saturday.
