President Donald Trump said he was seeking “immediate negotiations” about the United States acquiring Greenland, but that he did not intend to use force to gain territory, during his speech at the World Economic Forum on Jan.

A lease agreement modeled on Guantánamo Bay would be a win-win-win for the U.S., Greenland and Denmark.

"We probably won't get anything unless I decide to use excessive force. We'd be unstoppable, but we won't do that," Trump said on Wednesday.
