Entergy's Louisiana unit received the state's regulatory approval to move forward with infrastructure investments tied to Meta's new global data center in Richland Parish, the utility firm said on Wednesday.

Fast-tracking a vote that was originally expected to happen two months from now, state utility regulators plan to decide Wednesday whether to approve a controversial power plant Entergy wants to build specifically for tech company Meta to run a giant data center planned for Northeast Louisiana.

Entergy (NYSE:ETR) said Wednesday the Louisiana Public Service Commission approved its plan to build three new combined cycle combustion turbine generation facilities to power Meta’s (NASDAQ:META) new data center in the rural northeast part of the state.
