Andrew Garfield has inspired renewed discussion online about grief and emotion after a video of him opening up to “Sesame Street’s” Elmo drew millions of views on social media and an influx of support.

Garfield lost his mother in 2019 to pancreatic cancer and stars in the recently released "We Live in Time," in which he plays a husband coping with his wife's cancer diagnosis.

Although most of his interviews for the film have involved his scene partner, Florence Pugh, he went to Sesame Street Friday morning to have a deep and thoughtful conversation with Elmo, which was posted on Elmo's social media accounts, and it nearly broke my heart.
